*****IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE: JUDGE TIGAR'S CALENDAR*****
Parties may file a motion without a noticed hearing date, in which case the matter will be deemed submitted upon filing of the reply brief unless otherwise ordered by the Court. Parties remain free to notice motions for hearing. However, while shelter-in-place orders are in effect, the Court will decide most motions without a hearing and vacate the corresponding hearing dates pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 78(b) and Civil Local Rule 7-1(b), typically 7-10 days before the scheduled hearing date. Hearings that are not vacated will be conducted as Zoom webinars. The Court will be liberal in granting reasonable requests for continuances or extensions of briefing deadlines based on circumstances related to COVID-19. As in all cases, parties seeking a continuance should attempt to present their request to the Court by stipulation and proposed order; otherwise, the party seeking a continuance must file an administrative motion. Civil case management hearings are proceeding as scheduled via Zoom webinar. CRIMINAL IN-CUSTODY APPEARANCES. Counsel are encouraged to confer as to whether a continuance or waiver of the defendant’s personal presence is appropriate. In-custody proceedings requiring the defendant’s appearance can be scheduled through the courtroom deputy using a telephonic or video connection to the jail. Out-of-custody proceedings requiring the defendant’s appearance will proceed by telephone or video, and counsel and the defendant should ensure access to the required technology in advance of the hearing.
Important: Any recording of a court proceeding held by video or teleconference, including “screen-shots” or other visual copying of a hearing, is absolutely prohibited. Violation of these prohibitions may result in sanctions, including removal of court-issued media credentials, restricted entry to future hearings, denial of entry to future hearings, or any other sanctions deemed necessary by the court. ***************************************************************** Judge Jon S.
