Civil Motions: Hearings on civil motions will be conducted in person unless otherwise ordered.  Courtroom information will be posted the week of the hearing.

Case Management Conferences:  All case management conferences will be held via Zoom video webinar unless the court determines that an in-person proceeding would aid the court.

Settlement Planning Calls and Settlement Conferences:   Settlement planning calls will take place via Zoom.  Most settlement conferences will take place in person in the Oakland courthouse.  The court will determine whether a settlement conference will be conducted in person or by Zoom video conference, and will seek the parties’ input as part of the settlement planning process. For Zoom settlement conferences, all counsel must ensure that their participants have downloaded the Zoom application onto a device with a working camera and microphone.  Counsel shall do a test run with all of their participants prior to the settlement conference to eliminate all equipment-based problems.  Audio-only participation is prohibited.   Unless otherwise indicated, Judge Ryu will conduct settlement conferences in her designated non-public Zoom Meeting “room.”   The Zoom Meeting ID is available on Judge Ryu’s webpage as well as the ECF docket entry for the scheduling of the settlement conference.

COURT SCHEDULE:

Criminal Law and Motion:  During the regular criminal duty calendar.  Please contact Ivy Garcia at (510) 637-3639 to request a special setting.

Civil Law and Motion:  2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month in person at 1:00 p.m.  Parties need not reserve a hearing date, but should confirm Magistrate Judge Ryu's availability in the Scheduling Notes available on her webpage at http://www.cand.uscourts.gov/dmr.

Case Management Conferences:  1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. by Zoom videoconference

Judgment Debtor Examinations:  Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. (on Criminal Duty months) or 9:30 a.m. (on non-Criminal Duty months)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Settlement Conferences:  The court will issue scheduling orders for all settlement conferences referred to Judge Ryu.  Please contact Ivy Garcia at (510) 637-3639 if you have questions that are not addressed by the scheduling order.
